Vision
This year, Worship Tabernacle celebrates 23 years of ministry. Recently, we reflected on our journey with Pastor Tai and Pastor Femi, looking back to understand where God has brought us from, so we can better appreciate where He is leading us next.
Worship Tabernacle was born in an unexpected moment. An impromptu New Year’s crossover service in 2003 became the starting point of what would grow into the church we know today. What may have looked accidental was, in fact, God’s divine purpose unfolding. The church began in Belsize Park in a building with capacity for just 100 people. There was no children’s church, the behind-the-scenes work was often scrappy, but the presence of God was undeniable.
From the very beginning, Pastor knew he was called to serve and reach young people. A defining moment came when Pastor was invited to preach on purpose at Brunel University. That invitation became a turning point, shaping the heart, direction, and foundations of Worship Tabernacle.
As the church continued to grow, it became clear that we needed a permanent home. The question was how a congregation of 100 people could purchase a building valued at £900,000. By God’s grace, Worship Tabernacle moved into The Citadel in April 2010, a space that could hold over 400 people and marked a new chapter in our journey.
In 2020, as the world faced the challenges of COVID and many churches were forced to close their doors, Worship Tabernacle experienced exponential growth. This season positioned us to pay off our mortgage and brought us to the realisation that we had once again outgrown our building.
Now, we stand at another pivotal moment. It is time for the Joshua generation to rise. We are going higher!
The Story of Worship Tabernacle
Our Pastors’ inspiration behind naming the building ”The Haven” is because it represents a place of peace and joy, where people can find rest, warmth, and safety, discover who they are without judgement, ask honest questions, and feel truly at home without pressure or performance.
Community.
Creativity.
Children.
Celebration.
Isaiah 54:2 (NIV): "Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes"
As we began shaping the floor plans for the new building, it became clear that our vision required more space. Central to this vision is a purpose-built, state-of-the-art children’s church, a place where every child can grow, thrive, and build godly principles that will form the foundation of their lives. Simply put, this vision cannot be fully realised within one building alone.
In God’s perfect timing, the building next door became available. What could have felt like an obstacle revealed itself as provision. In November 2025, our offer to purchase the neighbouring building was accepted, opening the door to create the space our children need and deserve (pending the normal planning permissions). To secure this opportunity, we need to raise £400,000 by March 2026. Purchasing this building is not a “nice to have” it is essential to delivering the children’s ministry God has placed on our hearts and to safeguarding the future of the next generation. Use of this building is subject to the normal planning permissions.
WT Creatives
Our vision for the new building is to be a launchpad for young people and creatives, providing space to develop talent, confidence, and purpose. Through WT Creatives, we will create opportunities for acting, singing, dancing, media, and more, alongside workshops, mentorship, and skill-building resources that empower young people and young adults to grow, create, and step into their potential.
Community Impact
Our vision is for the new building to be a true community hub, open Monday to Sunday, with a community café, creative studios for young people, access to financial and second-opinion medical advice, practical workshops and seminars, a community food bank, and employment and business guidance, and a BACP accredited therapy program, all designed to meet real needs and create lasting impact beyond our Sunday services.
Disclaimer: The plans shared in this vision reflect our current intentions and direction. As the project develops, some details may evolve in response to community needs, resources, and opportunities, but our commitment to serving people and creating lasting impact remains unchanged.
